Let us be honest folks:

Stephen Colbert's show was cancelled because Joe Biden did not have the good judgement to recognize his frailty, his faltering mental faculties that were compounded by a stutter and the fact that he just looked plain old and frail. All of that had been carefully hidden until we ALL saw it live but too late.

Trump vs Harris was very close.

Had Biden stepped aside and a Democratic primary ensued someone in the Democratic ranks that could have beat Trump would have won that primary.

And history would be different.

Then, there is Ginsberg who suffered the same problem as Biden: Too much ego to step aside before she spent the last two years sleeping all day on Supreme Court Bench.

Between Ginsberg and Biden, Democrats self destructed due to bad judgement brought on by too much ego in two people.

IF just two people had been able to avoid excess ego, both Democrats, Trump would NOT be President.

Biden's level of cognitive impairment was greatly distorted in the debate. "The Gish gallop is a rhetorical technique in which a person in a debate attempts to overwhelm an opponent by presenting an excessive number of arguments, without regard for their accuracy or strength, with a rapidity that makes it impossible for the opponent to address them in the time available." Trump has been practicing it his whole life. With some slowing of thought process, a cold, and a lifetime STUTTER, an 81 year old Biden didn't stand a chance. Biden should not have run for a second term but people should not accept the falsehood that he wasn't still capable of making rational decisions in the Oval Office.

And let's not forget how Trump strutted around Hillary when they debated. Look at what he did to Zelenskyy in the Oval Office. The man is a baseless, relentless bully--period.

Adam, I look forward to your broadcasts. Your calm voice of reason in these unsettling times is very welcomed. Keep up the good work.

its also worth pointing out that, the failure of others in justice departments to peruse accountability, members of congress for failing to convict after both impeachments, on media for sane washing this monster and on the American public for falling for, and voting for this in the first place (just to name the few that come to my mind as their are likely way more i didn't think of) are just as responsible for the current reality in the USA. Speaking as a history student, the events of 2024, since 2015 and before will be hotly discussed by historians political scientists, and many other experts for decades and while Bidens discissions hold a good deal of responsibility for current events, acting like this is solely his fault is unreasonable, i will never claim to be an expert in this subject matter but fascism doesn't rise from one human failure, it rise from the large scale failures of a society.

I agree with most of your comment BenEasterlow and it is so well put! What shocked a lot of us was how, instead of the dems talking amongst themselves privately and regrouping right away, from the point of the botched debate on, it seemed like a free for all on soc media & news that even included movie stars weighing in via was it NYTs opinion page. Given the short period of time June to Nov, I am wondering how having a normal selection of a nominee would have gone.

I think KH did a wonderful job campaigning but I was also keeping an eye on what might "trigger" right leaning voters, knowing sadly in my heart just how racist and sexist our country has always been, thus pushing those voters closer to Mr tRump or staying home. I got alot of flak from my friends when I mentioned how the flashy celeb endorsements were prob going to produce a backlash, for instance.

Also KH's lack of clarity on gaza ,the on going genocide & Bibi's ignoring international war crime laws was something she should have addressed ( tricky as a sitting VP) as I think it was a portion of the stay at home and don't vote folks, more than we know. To care about the bombing ( of hospitals, schools ) & starvation of children living in tents without much water does not make one an antisemite. This illegal behavior has escalated with reports each day of how many were gunned down in line for food rations.

thanks for the reply, speaking as a brit who has had the (I'm not really sure myself what to call it) of watching the last 6 months plus from this side of the Atlantic, the perspective of someone, who i assume is American (if not i do apologise for my assumption) is interesting for me as someone engaged in political hobbyism. To be honest as i alluded to, the question of 'how we got here' and sadly 'how it came to this' will likely take decades to figure out entirely, you know their is an old phase in the historical discipline, i don't know who coined it or where i got it from but it goes something like this "some historians can sum up centuries in sentences while others can spend a lifetime studying the events of a few days, weeks, months or years", that quote has been on my mind since early February as i have watched one such example play out in real time. in my opinion (what ever it is worth) it best sums up the events of 2024 and before.

I can see why Joe ran... he is the only one to beat tRump🦧 so far. I don't feel it was ego. He just felt it was safest , perhaps. And guess what, like 10 million people sat home and didn't vote for a woman of color, endorsed by everyone, tho they voted for Biden last time. Considering the vital importance of 2024 and having read project 2025, informed voters voted. The rest got hung up on some issues.

BTW--Hunter just added his dad was also using ambien to sleep, so plus headcold ( did any cold meds mix in) and plane travel was extensive that weekPLUS bombardment of lies--Joe faltered. But in no way do I question his mental acuity to make normal & monumental decisions. Compared to the confefe or was it covfefe ? guy, well there is no comparison mentally morally ethically & emotionally. Joe is an inherently good man, the other is 🦧💩. We do need to focus on who will be up for the job in'28 who can have a wide enough appeal in racist, sexist and yes fascist usa. We need to find out the ( lack of ) motivation last time to sit on the couch. If we can identify that and address that group or groups' main issues with their govt I still have hope we will prevail, as long as voter and machine interference doesn't sink a true outcome. ⚖️💙🇺🇸Who in the senate is looking into what cyber experts are saying and the various counties being eval'd for some pretty weird 2024 descrepancies ??? Senator Schiff?? Can the dismissed experts on election integrity be called into a hearing to discuss what we need to prep for, pls? Or behind the scenes?

How dare you! EGO??? Ruth Bader Ginsburg was dying of pancreatic cancer, DESPERATELY waiting for a Democrat in the White House, because Voldemort Mitch McConnell refused confirmation of a Supreme Court nominee from a "lame duck" President Obama, and Trump shoved two ultra conservatives onto the bench. When Trump was on his way out, McConnell had NO problem allowing a REAL lame-duck vote (Trump was actually voted out, not term-limited like Obama) to confirm Amy Coney Barrett when Justice Ginsburg died just before the 2020 elections. She was the kind of person we should all aspire to be, and you should be ashamed of yourself.
