On November 5, Americans chose:

Lies over truth,

Ignorance over knowledge,

Chaos over order,

Malice over good will,

Division over unity,

Cowardice over courage,

Sleaze over character,

The criminal over the law,

And billionaires over ordinary people.

Proud to be a liberal woman, more than ever!

Proud to wear these kinds of t-shirts in front of Republicans 👇

Trump and co want to make the government NO longer functional!

The question I always have is what's going to replace it? Will it be as "simple" as removing all DEI and Equal Opportunity programs as well as references to LBGTQ? Or will it be anarchy with Trump changing the law every time he gets a whim like controlling the Kennedy Center honors? A sham government like Russia while the oligarchs are free to steal from people and seize tax revenue to enrich themselves? A technocratic bunch of chatbots and AI programs like what Musk and Altman warned us about in Nov 2022? Or how about an entirely new set of laws from the so-called Christian Nationalists? This is the stuff that really keeps me awake at night.

All of the above and none of the above. Just a total implosion. We're about to enter into some kind of sociopolitical blackhole.

I heard today all Republicans voted to back Trump but I do not know the guidelines for the deportation ! What American citizens does it target ? What does this bill say ? Has anyone seen it ? Read it ?????

It’s not a bill. It’s all part of the Reconciliation process of the Republicans proposed budget. The Republicans on the Judiciary Committee voted unanimously to give him money in the budget to arrest American citizens. That’s how I understand it. I haven’t seen anything on the wording, etc.

All I’ve seen is what our democrats have said coming out of the Committee saying this is what the republicans unanimously voted for to give the trump regime the money to do this. Will it go anywhere? Democrats are standing together to say no way. Remember this is just in the Budget Reconciliation process. I posted this just to make people aware of where they want to go. No language on this issue has been shared yet.

There are no guidelines. The target is all of us. The Republicans on house judiciary committee voted to let The Orange Scourge deport whoever he damn pleases.

The Democrats are standing united against this, of course, and right now now it’s just in the Reconciliation process of the proposed Republican budget.

Republicans continue to show us who they are. 🤬

Why can’t we charge him for his flagrant corruption. It is endless, so demoralizing

Expand full comment
Vickie Berry's avatar

Because the Supreme Court granted him immunity. But, his regime does not have immunity.

Doesn’t seem to me that immunity extends to the shitcoin scam, in my mind that would be an emoluments violation. There isn’t even a hint of trying to hide the beneficiaries of this scam. That, in turn calls into question a potentially grave matter of national security…are Xi, Putin, Lil Kim investors? Could they manipulate the value ? I think you see where I’m going here.

It's pretty much cleverly worded blanket immunity. However, if/when we take our country back, the corrupt SCOTUS itself should be subject to charges.

When will the Supreme Court overturn the ruling that makes him immune from prosecution for any crimes? How far does this have to go, are we really staring down civil war? Is that what he wants? Let’s remind them: We the People will not be ruled by corruption or fear.

I don’t see that happening until there’s a democrat in the White House.

Then the court will remove that immunity.

Thank you, Senator Schiff. As a retired international business executive, this video was especially resonant for me.

On the face of it, of course, we all know that corruption is bad.

Aside from the obvious immorality of it, here are the practical consequences that I've observed .doing business, traveling and even living in countries in which political corruption was regarded -- shoulder shrug -- as an unavoidable if undesirable fact of life (think most of Lain America, Berlusconi's Italy, China)...and why allowing this sort of thing to permeate our own politics is so dangerous.

It contributes to a ubiquitous sense of indifference about politics in general. The electorate sees the entire process as little more than a money grab for the fortunate few. Why bother to vote, or even care who wins, if that is what it is really all about?

Second, the fish, as they say, stinks from the head down.

A society in which corruption is tolerated at the highest administrative levels inevitably becomes a society in which it is tolerated everywhere. Every individual...at every level...comes to believe if their elected leaders do it, they are justified in participating as well. Especially since their take represents a miniscule fraction of what the whales (to further the fish metaphor) are getting.

So cops take bribes at traffic stops. So do permit inspectors, the DMV employee who issue your driver's licenses, the guy the utility company sends out to hook up your electricity. Judges. EVERYBODY who has a little bit of leverage, however minimal, uses it to exact a tax to grease the societal wheels. And when everyone's in on it, nobody needs to feel guilty about it.

I've experienced it first hand countless times. A vaguely helpless explanation of why what they are supposed to do for you -- hampered by unseen complexities only they understand -- just can't be done.

Unless...

Pause.... Sigh....

Only a dope doesn't get what comes next.

The end result is an entire sub economy -- one with NO productive outcome -- representing an ever-present drag on GDP, lowering it, creating inflation and perpetuating itself indefinitely.

And don't let anyone tell you there's ALWAYS been corruption in US government. That's a false equivalency. In this case, what Trump is doing is so QUANTITATIVELY different from what has occurred in the past that is becomes QUALITATIVELY different as well.

We need to stop it.

Democrats are doing the same thing over and over again, attacking trump, and expecting different results.

I simply cannot understand why Democrats are not holding Congressional Republicans accountable for their failure to do their Constitutional duty to convict and remove trump from office.

If Congressional Republicans had been a check on this unfit president, he would never have been able to hold any office again.
