The senate approved RFK Jr.'s cabinet appointment. The man is a big fail. He has to go. Now.

No difference, really, than most all of the appointed non-competent people in control of so many federal departments today. One would think and expect those jobs would be filled with people with targeted expertise... ain't happening. Take a look at the unskilled, unprofessional, substandard people put in charge and ask why... the answer is easy, sycophants of the would-be 'king', donny frump. Himself a substandard man, defiantly a blundering self-serving ignorant mad man.

Thank you for this Senator! My own Mother who would be 101 this year was a Microbiologist! She helped make Chicagos water safe to drink early in her career! Science is so very important to the well being of all humans!

Tens of thousands of us have worked so hard, with so much dedication, for decades to find viable therapeutics and cures, for people we have never met. We share our passion with the next generation in order to help even more people. We devote our lives to the truth, the quest, navigate the debates, the breakthroughs, the challenges of the experiment and the time with sure willpower, work ethic, and curiosity. Now it feels like we’re in a rock tumbler with no lid and no connection to the power switch. It’s so disheartening. The US is losing its place in the world as the powerhouse. The economy is losing the benefits on so many levels. Most of us will never be famous and we don’t care about that at all. We just want to keep working to cure diseases, make new discoveries and innovate new technologies for the future. Thank you for speaking about this. I’m shocked that Congress is letting this happen. I can’t believe that a single member of Congress doesn’t recognize some personal impact of this work, not to mention the impact on the economy of their state or region. Please keep pushing. Thank you!

The gop let their party be co opted by radical obstructionist fascists. Why?

Hang in there so we can rebuild our country in a few years.

We need you.

Actually, the GOP was largely composed of radical obstructionist fascists for decades. The only difference is that the festering infection has come to the surface.

Start putting citizen committees together consisting of lawyers, constitutional scholars, investigators, retired judges, Jan 6 Congressional Committee members, and any other individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary and start tracking, documenting and investigating every corrupt actions taken by anyone involved in the trump orbit, including CONGRESSIONAL REPUBLICANS, and prepare for prosecution!

Thank you for this message, Senator. I am a California-licensed Clinical Scientist with over 40 years of experience, and proud that you are one of our great California leaders. I was just reading with horror the latest message from RFK Jr related to eliminating scientists from the leading peer-reviewed journals! I am an Executive Director of a Transfusion Medicine research group, and I am lucky enough to be nearing retirement. I fear for our country's future health and safety, and for the careers of our young researchers.

RFK Jr. has no medical degree. What are the real reasons he was appointed?

To reduce the population?

Expand full comment
Jerome Vanderberg's avatar

No. He was not appointed to reduce the population, although that is likely an effect he will have. We need to recall that the large majority of Covid-19 deaths was among non-vaccinated people in Red States. And if there is a new pandemic of Covid-19 or of Bird Flu among humans (as I anticipate), the results will likely be similar, especially if there is an expected shortage of vaccines. (I am a retired 90-year old scientist who worked on vaccine development, mostly funded by NIH).

I worked for the National Renewable Energy Lab for 13 years. I was hired during Reagan's second term with major budget cuts, RIFs, elimination of certain programs, restrictions on what could be printed. Same with Clinton's midterm when Repubutts recaptured Congress--budget for entire lab zeroed out. Bush Jr--same thing. Now Trump. Guess what? Scientists have devoted their lives to their work. Fired from one place, hired by another. Data not safe here, it''s sent to Europe. Results are everywhere and can't be suppressed, not even in places like China. Science is an international community.

I suspect that TrumPox >wants< to accelerate and exacerbate global warming - because he's a psychopath. Plus he's paid off by the big pollution industry, AKA big oil.

Yep. Repubutt mantra ever since the oil crises of the 1970s. Instead of fighting what's obvious to all but them, they could embrace the idea of green energy as a way to create jobs in new industries with global markets. It would also help if we had a national energy policy that persisted for more than a few years!

This is because he was trained as a federal prosecutor, meaning that he had to present evidence to members of Juries made up of people with a wide range of educational backgrounds. So, Schiff speaks with simple words and clear explanations, with honesty and sometimes with a touch of humor. That is why he sounds so eloquent

Thank you again, Senator Schiff. I think this is helpful for us to realize just how destructive this administration is, and how this focused destruction has its role in dismantling our republic. Half the voting population of America will respond with profane threats when they hear what they are supporting, but I believe you are clear, concise, and, most of all, correct.
